Review of conveyancing practice
Helen Burke will examine practical issues that arise in conveyancing transactions, including the sale of residential dwellings and gardens, Law Society standard documentation, taxation aspects of conveyancing, the sale of new houses, and mortgages and charges.
Helen Burke is a practising solicitor at H.V. O’Donoghue in Cork and works within the speciality of the conveyancing law.
Session 2 | 11.10am – 12.10pm (1 Hour General)
Planning Enforcement
Fionna O’Regan B.L. will examine the law on planning enforcement with a focus on advising a client facing enforcement, and defending enforcement proceedings. She will discuss planning injunctions as well as local authority planning prosecutions.
Fionna O’Regan BL is a barrister with a general civil practice. She is a member of the Planning, Environment and Local Government Bar Association and the Climate Bar Association and is a former member of the Board of An Bord Pleanála.
Session 3 | 12.20pm – 1.20pm (1 Hour General)
Circuit Court licensing applications
Michael McGrath S.C. will examine the practical matters arising in successfully preparing a Circuit Court liquor licensing application including instructing an engineer, serving and dealing with notice parties, common company law and title issues, and special rules for revival applications and extension applications.

The introduction of land registration in Ireland in 1891
Michael McGrath S.C. will trace the history of the introduction of land registration in Ireland in 1891 focusing on the policy reasons put forward against land registration, how proponents of land registration sought to address those difficulties, and the impact of that debate on land registry practice today.
